Team Small Announces Limited Racing Committments For 2006
Team Small today announces a planned limited competitive presence for the upcoming 2006 season.
The offseason search for sponsorship has thus far proven unsuccessful, and at this late stage Michael and I have decided to enter this season with a more "recreational" attitude than season's past.
Our machinery became very tired toward the end of last season and both bikes are now in need of a major overhaul. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints this work has not been carried out and both Michael and I feel we could not be consistently competitive aboard the bikes as they currently stand.
It is with this in mind that we will be competing at only a few events this year. Michael will be riding in division 2 and I plan to continue in division 1 on the odd occasion that I compete. Michael also has a goal of trying the Welland circuit for the first time this season, as he is now 15 and is at last able to do so based on CMA rulings.
The Small Family will of course be regular attendees at most Paris events and I will be very willing to help out around the track as much as possible if I am not riding.
One event both Michael and I have confirmed we will be riding in is the SRP promoted Dean Bencsics Memorial. This July 15th event has been fantastic over the past few years, especially last year when, for the first time Speedy Race Promotions took over the reigns. They have pledged to make this year's event bigger still and I think this could be the premier event of the season.
Ironic as it is, I will miss the opportunity to compete in the veterans class at this meet by two days! I would be 40 years old on the 17th July, two days late by sanctioning body CMA rulings! So, I guess I'm stuck with the division 1 "Big Guns" for another year at least!
I'll be updating the website on a much more regular basis from now on as the season approaches so keep checking back to see what's new.
Just one final word; Jim, we love you. You now have the best spectator seat in the house.
Talk again soon,
Phil #21 & Michael #2
